‘I’ll become last Republican President’ – Trump warns after Abdul El-Sayed senatorial nomination

United States President Donald Trump has warned that he could become the last Republican president if Democratic Senate candidate, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed succeeds in his bid for office, accusing the Michigan politician of pushing to abolish the Senate filibuster.
Trump made the remarks in a post on Truth Social on Thursday, following El-Sayed’s emergence as the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate seat in Michigan.
According to Trump, El-Sayed has made ending the filibuster a central part of his campaign.
Addressing Republican senators, Trump claimed that eliminating the filibuster would hand Democrats a significant political advantage, including more seats in Congress and greater influence over the judiciary.
“For our Great Republican Senators, friends of mine ‘all,’ please be advised that the Communist Dumocrat Senate Candidate from Michigan, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, is touting, as perhaps his single most important point, the Termination of the Filibuster,” Trump wrote.
He added: “If he succeeds, the Dumocrats will gain 4 Senators, 8 Congressmen, many Electoral and Popular Votes, a stacked Supreme Court with 23 Justices, and I will be, sadly, despite the great job we are doing, the last Republican President!”
Trump’s comments came amid renewed political debate over the Senate filibuster, a procedural rule that generally requires 60 votes to advance most legislation in the Senate.
Democrats have been divided over whether the rule should be abolished or reformed to make it easier to pass legislation with a simple majority.
