“I stay on the water to provide for you all”

A Nigerian man has sparked reactions on social media after expressing frustration over what he described as poor management of his household by his wife, their nanny and his mother-in-law.
The man claimed that despite having constant electricity at home, food items were allegedly left to spoil while he worked hard to provide for his family.
Husband Laments Over Spoilt Fish
In a post shared online, the husband said a Titus fish he bought the previous month had gone bad inside the freezer.
According to him, his wife, the family’s nanny and his mother-in-law all watched the fish spoil without taking any action.
He wrote:
“A full Titus fish I bought last month got spoilt in the freezer, a house with 24/7 electricity. A wife, nanny and her mum. They all sat and watched it go bad.
“This is the only one left. And they are smelling.”
He Alleges Other Food Items Were Neglected
The husband claimed the spoilt fish was only one of several examples of what he described as poor housekeeping.
He alleged that other food items in the house had also been left unattended.
He said:
“This is the tips of the ice berg. They are more food, milk opened filled with insects, sugar with ants while I stay on the water to look for money to care for my family.”
The man added that he spends long periods away from home working to provide for his family, only to return and discover food had allegedly gone to waste.
Husband Mentions Mother-in-Law’s Response
The husband also claimed that when he complained about the situation, his mother-in-law defended her daughter.
He wrote:
“My mum Inlaw opened her mouth to say that her daughter isn’t the first that can not take care of the home. A 30 years old lady with two kids. Take a look.”
The post has generated mixed reactions on social media.
