The Kogi State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported deaths of four members of the same family in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking to TVC News, Police Commissioner, Naziru Kankarofi said preliminary findings point to suspected food poisoning after the victims reportedly consumed a home-cooked meal.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Government says Governor Usman Ododo has directed the Commissioner for Health to commence a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said reports that the family’s dog also died after consuming the same food would form part of the investigation.

He said the government sympathised with the bereaved family, assuring residents that further information would be made available as soon as verified facts emerge from the ongoing investigation.
