Nigeria’s U-20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, will be in action on Wednesday, when they face hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro.
Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side reached the last four after finishing second in Group B, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final group match.
The encounter rekindles memories of the teams’ meeting at the 2024 tournament in Togo, where Nigeria came from behind to defeat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 before eventually lifting the title.

The hosts enter Wednesday’s clash in impressive form, having won all their group matches without conceding a goal.
Nigeria are expected to make changes to the starting lineup following the loss to Burkina Faso as they seek a place in Sunday’s final.
Victory over Côte d’Ivoire would not only send the Flying Eagles into the championship match but also secure qualification for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations alongside hosts Ghana.
