The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has opened applications for its 2027 Young Graduates Professional Immersion Programme, offering 90 young professionals the opportunity to gain work experience within the regional bloc.

The 12-month programme is scheduled to run from January 1 to December 31, 2027, and will place successful applicants in ECOWAS institutions, specialised agencies, departments and Permanent Representations across West Africa.

The initiative is designed to provide young graduates with practical professional experience while exposing them to regional development programmes and West African integration efforts.

The programme is open to citizens of ECOWAS member states between the ages of 18 and 32 as of the application closing date.

Eligible applicants are required to hold at least a Bachelor’s degree, while candidates with Master’s degrees, PhDs or equivalent qualifications can also apply.

Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in at least one of ECOWAS’ working languages—English, French or Portuguese.

According to the programme details, candidates may apply for a maximum of two positions using a single cover letter.

Successful participants will receive a monthly allowance of $500 if posted in their home country, while those posted to another ECOWAS member state will receive $800 monthly.

Candidates posted outside their countries of origin will also receive round-trip air travel coverage to their host countries.

The programme seeks to improve participants’ employability by providing technical skills, policy exposure, professional training and opportunities to work within a multicultural regional organisation.
