DIG Mourns 10 Police Officers Killed by Bandits in Kebbi

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, has visited Kebbi State to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the killing of ten police officers in the line of duty.

The DIG, who led a delegation of senior police officers to Government House in Birnin Kebbi, conveyed the condolences of the Nigeria Police Force to the families of the fallen officers and the state government.

The event which follow the fight agaist armed bandits who stormed Makuku village in Zuru emirate to attack and possibly kidnap residents but the armed mobile Police force on credible intelligence information swifty swooped on them and engaged them in fierce fire fighting killing at least seventeen of them and wounding several others.

Leading senior officers from the Force Headquarters and Mobile Force formations, among members of the delegation were the kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force, CP Nendel JD Gomwalk, and the Commissioner of Police, Federal Operations, CP Akpan Wilson and head of Other sister agencies.

For Governor Nasir Idris, the death of the officers is a painful reminder of the enormous sacrifice security personnel make to protect communities.

“The people sent to protect our communities were mercilessly killed. This is very painful and unfortunate. We sympathise with the Nigeria Police Force and, most importantly, with the families of the fallen officers.”

The Governor assured the bereaved families that the state government would not abandon them, promising that their welfare would receive due attention.

He also commended the police and other security agencies for their sacrifices in protecting lives and property, while calling for stronger collaboration to confront banditry and other criminal activities.

The DIG reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to supporting ongoing security operations in the state and working closely with the government and other security agencies to protect lives and property.

As security operations intensify in parts of Kebbi, the loss of the ten officers has left their families , Kebbi state grieving.
