CAN Prays for Tinubu, Idris, Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity In Kebbi

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Kebbi State Chapter, has offered special prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Nasir Idris and the peace, progress and prosperity of Nigeria and Kebbi State.

The prayer session, held at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Birnin Kebbi, brought together Christian leaders from the 21 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the event, CAN Chairman, Bishop Ayuba Kanta ,commended Governor Nasir Idris for what he described as inclusive leadership and support for religious harmony and freedom of worship.

He acknowledged the administration’s interventions in support of the Christian community, including assistance for a Christian burial ground, the CAN Secretariat, festive activities and empowerment programmes.

Bishop Yafi also praised the Governor’s development efforts, pall He appealed to the government to sustain its engagement with Christians and address concerns relating to religious instruction, worship centres and representation.

Responding, Governor Nasir Idris thanked CAN for the prayers and assured Christians and other residents that his administration would continue to promote peace, development and equal treatment without discrimination based on religion or ethnicity.

The Governor highlighted ongoing projects in education, healthcare, rural roads and other critical infrastructure, stressing that the administration’s priority was to improve the living conditions of the people.

He also identified security as a major priority, disclosing that President Tinubu had approved the deployment of an additional 1,000 soldiers to Kebbi State.

Governor Idris thanked President Tinubu for supporting the state, particularly in security and road infrastructure, citing the Koko-Besse road and other federal projects.

The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Sani Aliyu, assured the Christian community that the government would consider the issues raised by CAN. He also clarified that the Hisbah Law was not intended to compel anyone to embrace Islam but to promote discipline, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence.

The event featured prayers, goodwill messages and an award presented by CAN to Governor Idris in recognition of his commitment to religious tolerance, freedom of worship and inclusiveness.
