More than 120 youths participated in the BetterME Tournament, a competition focused on personal development, peacebuilding and positive habits, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The organisers said this in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Monday, adding that the tournament was organised by the Ibadan Peace Club of Nigeria under the World Peace Initiative Foundation, Thailand.

The competition, held on August 1, 2026, at Ajumobi Hall, Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan, featured “a series of written and oral challenges” based on the BetterME Model.

According to the organisers, the model was designed to promote “mindfulness, self-discipline, emotional resilience, and positive habits.”

Speaking at the event, BetterME Coach, Dr Binuyo Oluwatomiwa, described the tournament as “a platform for personal transformation,” stressing that “lasting societal change begins with self-development.”

Participants also heard from representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on “peacebuilding, leadership, and drug abuse prevention.”

After five competitive rounds, Emmanuel Ademola emerged as the overall winner and received N300,000.
