APC Would Have Won Osun Easily With Federal Might – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the Federal Government did not deploy its full political influence during the recent Osun State governorship election.

Wike said President Bola Tinubu could have secured victory in the state had he been determined to win the election “at all cost”.

“If the President wanted to win Osun State election at all cost, I would have been there and we will win it, and there’s nothing the governor can do,” Wike said.

The minister insisted that there was no use of “federal might” during the election, saying the full strength of the Federal Government would have produced a different outcome.

“There was no Federal might used in Osun. When you see the force and might of the Federal Government, you will know,” he said.

Wike also claimed that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State would ordinarily have been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) if political circumstances had worked out differently.

“Ordinarily, Adeleke would have been with APC if things had worked out well,” he said.

The minister also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described the 2027 election as likely to be easier for the President than the 2023 contest.

“2027 elections will be the easiest one for the President compared to 2023,” Wike said.

According to him, the opposition has been significantly weakened ahead of the next general election.

“This time around, opposition has been crippled, homeless, no feather,” he said.

Wike’s comments come after the Osun governorship election, in which incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke retained the state’s top seat.
