Bauchi police arrest suspect, recover stolen solar panels

The Bauchi State Police Command has disclosed that it arrested a 26-year-old suspect, Emmanuel Jacob, over the alleged theft of seven solar panels belonging to the Federal Government Girls’ College, Bauchi.

The command also said it recovered four of the stolen solar panels from the suspect.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib made this disclosure in a statement issued on Tuesday, wherein it stated that the arrest was made in furtherance of the Safe School Initiative and the command’s commitment to combating property-related crimes.

Habib said a case involving the theft of the school’s property was promptly reported and handled by operatives of the ‘A’ Division, Township, Bauchi.

He explained, “One Emmanuel Jacob, a 26-year-old male of Federal Government Girls’ College, Bauchi, was arrested in connection with the theft of seven solar panels belonging to the school.”

The PPRO added, “During investigations and subsequent operations, four out of the seven stolen solar panels were successfully recovered from the suspect.”

According to the police spokesman, the police were intensifying efforts to recover the remaining three panels and arrest those who received or helped dispose off the stolen items.

He said, “The Command assures the public that investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining three panels and to apprehend the receiver(s) involved in the disposal of the stolen items.”

Habib noted that the suspect was still in its custody but would be charged to court after the completion of the investigations.
