The Lagos State Government says the Ojo-Iba Secondary Specialist Hospital is now 90 per cent complete and is expected to become operational before the end of the year.
The state Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, disclosed this in a statement shared on his X handle after an inspection of the facility, on Monday, August 17.
Abayomi said the project was nearing completion and would provide modern healthcare services to residents of Ojo, Iba and surrounding communities.
“Ojo-Iba Secondary Specialist Hospital is now 90% complete, bringing us closer to delivering a modern healthcare facility for the people of Ojo, Iba and the surrounding communities,” he said.

According to him, the facility will be equipped with ultra-modern CT and MRI scanners, as well as advanced laboratory diagnostic technology.
The commissioner said the inspection covered various sections of the hospital, including the staff quarters, which he said were designed to provide suitable accommodation for personnel.
He also disclosed that the hospital would generate a significant portion of its electricity through a solar farm.
“The specialist hospital will also rely significantly on a solar farm to produce 60% of its power needs, reducing dependence on the grid and diesel and complementing its green design,” Abayomi said.
The commissioner said attention was also given to the environment surrounding the facility, including an adjoining unplanned market which would be relocated.
He added that some structural issues caused by rainfall were identified during the inspection and would be addressed before the hospital is completed.
Abayomi said the inspection was carried out alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, as well as officials from relevant ministries and agencies.
He said the government’s priority at this stage was to ensure that the hospital’s infrastructure, power supply, access and surrounding environment were ready to support its long-term operation.
“At this stage, our focus is not simply on completing the buildings, but on ensuring that the infrastructure, power, access and surrounding environment are ready for long-term operations,” he said.
Abayomi added that inspections would become more frequent as the project enters the completion and equipping stages.
“Our goal is to have Ojo-Iba Specialist Hospital operational by the end of the year, adding much-needed capacity to Lagos State’s healthcare system and bringing quality healthcare closer to the people of Ojo and Iba,” he said.
He described the project as an important investment in the health and wellbeing of Lagos residents, adding that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was determined to see the facility completed and operational before the end of his administration.
