Atiku Woos Osun Voters, Says Best of Nigerians in ADC

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the party is different from the Accord Party and other political parties ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

Atiku made the declaration on Monday in Osogbo during the grand finale of the ADC governorship campaign rally, where he urged voters to support the party’s candidate, Najeem Salaam.

Addressing supporters, Atiku said the ADC had emerged as a political platform for what he described as the “best of Nigerians,” distinguishing it from other parties contesting the election.

“I have come today to appeal to you to vote for the ADC. This is because the ADC I can assure you is different from APC, is different from Accord, is different from all other parties because the best of Nigerians is today in ADC,” Atiku said.

He urged voters to elect Salaam, expressing confidence that supporting the ADC would not be a decision they would regret.

“I believe you will not regret voting ADC in the forthcoming elections, that is why I have come personally to relate with you, to thank you for your previous support and to appeal to you to vote ADC in the next gubernatorial election,” he said.

The former vice president also thanked supporters for their large turnout at the campaign finale, saying their presence strengthened the party’s confidence ahead of the poll.

The rally was attended by ADC National Chairman, David Mark; the party’s National Secretary and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola; and other party leaders and supporters.

Salaam, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, is the ADC candidate in the August 15 governorship election.

The poll will also feature Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, among other candidates.

TVC News had earlier reported that Atiku Abubakar arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Abubakar said he arrived in the state alongside a delegation of political associates to participate in the party’s grand finale campaign rally for Salaam, popularly known as Iwaloye.

He said the visit was aimed at rallying support for the ADC candidate and making a final appeal to voters ahead of the election.

“We are here to rally support for our candidate and make a final appeal to the people of Osun State to entrust the ADC with the responsibility of delivering purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for all,” Abubakar said.
