The All Progressives Congress has accused the Accord Party of shooting at its members during a campaign rally in Ilesha, leaving at least five people hospitalised.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo, the APC alleged that the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Akerele, and operatives of the Amotekun Corps were behind the shooting, which it said also left some passers-by injured.
The party accused the Accord Party of deliberately instigating violence and called on security agencies to investigate the incident and prevent further attacks ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
At a separate press briefing, the Accord Party accused the APC of perpetrating what it described as unlawful arrests of its members.
The party alleged that one of its members, the Osun State Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Anjorin, was unlawfully arrested and detained.
Both parties called on security agencies to ensure the safety of their members and supporters ahead of the election.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command says it has commenced an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred around Ilesa during a procession by supporters of a political party.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, the incident reportedly occurred when some suspected armed men alighted from a vehicle with registration number OSHA 04 and allegedly fired sporadically in the vicinity of the ongoing political procession.
Three persons were said to have sustained injuries
According to the statement, upon receiving the report, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department, Intelligence Response Team, FID-IRT, swiftly mobilised to the area.
The police said a Lexus vehicle with registration number ABJ-89TS was subsequently impounded, while an individual identified as an Amotekun operative, who was allegedly found in possession of a pump-action firearm, was inside the vehicle.
The Command also confirmed that the State Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Adejorin, who was said to be one of the occupants of the vehicle, has been taken into custody.
The police said it was also aware of allegations linking certain individuals, including the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Akerele, to the incident.
The Command stressed that the allegations are still under investigation, adding that no individual should be presumed guilty until the investigation establishes otherwise.
