Apata urges Ekiti lawyers to remain proactive, prioritize rest

The Ekiti State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dayo Apata, SAN, has urged lawyers in the state to remain proactive in the discharge of their professional duties while also creating time for rest and relaxation.
Apata gave the charge at a luncheon organised for lawyers in the state to commemorate the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference (AGC), held in Ado-Ekiti.
He said the annual event was aimed at bringing together lawyers serving in the state to celebrate, interact and have opportunities to relax.
According to him, lawyers should always create time out of their busy schedules to rest and relax, noting that doing so would enable them to remain more productive and proactive in their duties.
The Attorney-General said the initiative was conceived to provide lawyers in the state, particularly those unable to attend the national conference, with an opportunity to share in the experience and benefits associated with the annual gathering.
Apata appreciated former Attorneys-General of the state and the Ministry of Justice for laying the foundation for the event, promising to sustain and further improve the initiative.
In his remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary and Solicitor-General of the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, Mr Gbemiga Adaramola, commended Apata for sustaining the annual event.
Adaramola said the event had assumed a new dimension since Apata’s appointment as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, attributing the development to his leadership style and principle of inclusiveness.
He noted that not all lawyers in the state had the opportunity to attend the NBA’s national conference, hence the need to organise the annual event to enable them to share in some of the experiences and benefits enjoyed by their colleagues at the national level.
Adaramola thanked the Attorney-General for creating opportunities for professional growth within the Ministry of Justice, saying members of staff had continued to learn from his leadership and example.
He said several positive testimonies had been received about Apata’s leadership and prayed for God’s continued guidance and protection for him.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the NBA, Ikere-Ekiti Branch, Ayo Daramola, Esq., commended Apata for his leadership style and fatherly role toward lawyers across the state.
He wished participants a safe journey to their various destinations.
Those present at the event included a former Attorney-General of the state, Mr Kolapo Kolade, SAN; Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Mr Niyi Idowu; directors in the Ministry of Justice; and senior legal practitioners.
