Adamawa Man Who Murdered Father, Dumped Corpse In A Well Says He’s Drunk, Angry

A disturbing family tragedy has unfolded in Sangere Quarters of Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where a 32-year-old man, Peter Michael Sinamai, has been arrested for allegedly killing his biological father and dumping his corpse in a well in an attempt to conceal the crime.

Sinamai was arrested by the police following a complaint from a good Samaritan in the community.

He reportedly confessed to the alleged murder during an exclusive interview at the Adamawa State Police Command Headquarters in Yola.

The suspect attributed the incident to anger, alcohol and drug use, while also alleging that his late father had subjected him and his siblings to harsh treatment over the years.

According to Sinamai, tensions intensified after he got married and brought his wife to the family home.

He alleged that his father disliked his wife and repeatedly assaulted her, saying he was forced to seek medical treatment for her after one of the alleged incidents.

“I married and brought my wife to the house. My dad had never liked her. He beat her countless times, and I even had to treat her the last time,” he recounted.

Sinamai said his anger was compounded by his consumption of alcohol and drugs.

He recalled that on the day of the incident, he returned home tired and drunk and found his father lying outside the house.

“I was overwhelmed by anger. Even though I drink and do drugs, that very day I came back home tired and drunk. I met him lying outside the house,” he said.

The suspect alleged that after discovering that his mother was asleep, he picked up a stick and struck his father twice on the head.

“I used a stick on his head twice. He died instantly,” the suspect revealed, adding that instead of reporting the incident, he panicked and allegedly attempted to conceal the death by dragging his father’s body into a well and covering it.

The alleged attempt to conceal the incident, however, did not prevent the matter from coming to the attention of the community, after which the police commenced an investigation and arrested the suspect.

While in police custody, Sinamai expressed remorse over the murder and appealed to the public and his immediate family for forgiveness.

“I regret my actions now. I am pleading that society should forgive me, and my immediate family should also have mercy on me. I know I have done wrong,” he said.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Ngurore, said Sinamai allegedly killed his father and dumped the corpse in a well in an attempt to conceal the crime and prevent suspicion.

Ngurore said police officers swung into action immediately after receiving a complaint from a good Samaritan in the community, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

He said Sinamai would be charged in court after thorough interrogation and completion of the necessary investigation, including the suspect undergoing medical examination.

Ngurore described the incident as disturbing, particularly because of the allegation that a young man deliberately killed his biological father.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death and the events that allegedly preceded it.
