2027 election fight between Nigerians and ‘oppressors’ – Kwankwaso

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the 2027 general election as a struggle between Nigerians and what he called “the oppressors”.
Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to put aside political differences and unite to bring about change in the country.
He made the remarks when South-East leaders and members of the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN), led by its South-East Coordinator, Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai, visited him at his residence in Abuja.
The delegation briefed the former Kano State governor on KNN’s activities and its plans to mobilise support for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket across the South-East.
According to Ukpai, Kwankwaso said growing dissatisfaction with the country’s situation had created a strong demand for political change.
He urged Nigerians to see the 2027 election as a decision about the country’s future rather than simply a contest between political parties.
“It is not about me, it is about us,” Kwankwaso was quoted as saying.
He also urged supporters of the alliance to remain committed to the struggle beyond the 2027 election.
The former governor said the recent Osun governorship election showed that votes could count if Nigerians remained determined to protect their mandates.
He called on citizens to reject electoral fraud and vote selling, saying short-term personal benefits should not be allowed to outweigh the future of the country.
Kwankwaso also asked KNN leaders to increase their grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
