A Nigerian man has sparked reactions on social media after claiming that a woman he met on Facebook only disclosed she was married after he reportedly spent nearly ₦60,000 on their first date.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man recounted how they had been chatting online for some time before agreeing to meet in person. He also claimed he had been sending her money during their online conversations without knowing she was married.
According to him, he initially invited the woman to his house, but she declined and suggested they meet instead at a public place, choosing a popular Kilimanjaro restaurant for the outing.
Narrating his experience, he said:
“See me, see wahala. Look at this woman I met online. We met on Facebook and kept chatting. I invited her to my house, but she said no, that we should meet at an open place. She selected Kilimanjaro.”
The man alleged that by the time he arrived, the woman had already begun eating and continued ordering more meals, leaving him with a bill of almost ₦60,000.
He said he did not object because he assumed she was genuinely hungry and wanted her to enjoy the date.
According to him, the situation took an unexpected turn after they left the restaurant.
“After that, we booked a Bolt to my house, but on the way, she told me she was married. This is someone I’ve been sending money to before we even met, and she never told me she was married,” he claimed.
His account has since gone viral, generating mixed reactions online. While some social media users criticized the alleged lack of honesty, others questioned why the relationship had progressed without both parties discussing their personal circumstances beforehand.
