JAMB announced that the handover ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., adding that the event will be streamed live on the board’s official social media platforms.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the board invited members of the public to witness what it described as a landmark occasion in its institutional history.
“Join us for the live broadcast of the official handover ceremony as Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the outgoing Registrar of JAMB, formally hands over to Prof. Segun Aina,” the statement read.
The ceremony marks the conclusion of Oloyede’s tenure, which expires on July 31, and the formal assumption of office by Aina as the new Registrar of the nation’s tertiary admissions agency.
President Bola Tinubu approved Aina’s appointment earlier this month, naming him as Oloyede’s successor.
Announcing the appointment, the Presidency described Aina as a distinguished Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with extensive experience in digital infrastructure, examination technology and institutional reforms.
According to the Presidency, Aina earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, before obtaining a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
The Presidency noted that Aina has spent more than 15 years advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, governance reforms and systems development.
He has also worked with major examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), where he provided consultancy services on information technology systems and examination integrity.

The government further described him as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, adding that he is set to become the youngest Registrar in JAMB’s history.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on the reforms introduced under Oloyede’s administration, particularly in the areas of digital innovation, examination transparency and institutional efficiency.
Oloyede, who assumed office as JAMB Registrar in 2016, is widely credited with introducing far-reaching reforms that improved the credibility of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), strengthened examination security, enhanced revenue generation and expanded the board’s digital operations.
His decade-long tenure also saw the introduction of tighter admission monitoring systems, increased transparency in admissions and closer collaboration with tertiary institutions across the country.
With Aina taking over, attention is expected to focus on sustaining the board’s reform agenda while leveraging emerging technologies to further improve examination administration and Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.
