Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to the Philippines, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), has presented copies of his Letters of Credence (copie d’usage) to the Philippine government as part of the diplomatic process preceding his formal assumption of office.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Thursday, July 30.
According to the ministry, the ambassador-designate presented the copies of his Letters of Credence to Ariel R. Penaranda, Assistant Secretary (Chief of Protocol) at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

The ministry stated, “Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), the Ambassador-Designate of Nigeria to the Philippines, presented copies of his Letters of Credence (copie d’usage) to Ariel R. Penaranda, Assistant Secretary (Chief of Protocol) at the Department of Foreign Affairs of The Philippines.”
According to the ministry, “The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Regina Aondona, Minister (Deputy Head of Mission) and Mr Obinna Onyima, Counselor (Political and Economy).”
The presentation of copies of Letters of Credence is a standard diplomatic procedure that precedes the formal presentation of the original Letters of Credence to the host country’s Head of State, officially accrediting an ambassador to represent their country.
