“I got married two months ago, I’m already filing for a divorce”

A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after revealing that she is already considering divorce just two months after getting married.

In a video shared on social media, the woman explained that her decision was triggered by a disagreement with her husband over financial commitments and what she described as a lack of effort from him.

Lady shares reason for considering divorce

The lady revealed that she runs a perfume business, which was doing well before she got married.

According to her, while they were dating and preparing for marriage, her husband suggested that she add him as her next of kin on her bank account in case anything happened to her.

She said she agreed because she loved and trusted him, and she personally took him to the bank to complete the process.

She said:

“Because I loved this man, I didn’t think twice. The next day I took him to the bank and I added his name as next of kin in my bank account with some kind of benefit attached to it.”

Husband allegedly refuses similar request

The lady said that after their marriage, she discovered that her husband had been building five apartments, three of which had already been completed and leased out.

She explained that she asked him to also add her as his next of kin or beneficiary, especially because she was pregnant with their child.

However, she claimed her husband refused and accused her of rushing him.

She said:

“I told this man that I want him to add me as a beneficiary to his bank account, as his next of kin, the way I did mine.

“But this man said, I’m in a hurry. Why should I be telling him what to do?”

The woman said the response changed the way she viewed her husband, adding that she began feeling resentment because she believed he was unwilling to reciprocate what she had done for him.

Lady leaves husband’s home

The pregnant woman said the disagreement affected their relationship, causing her to leave her husband’s home and return to her parents’ house.

She claimed that despite staying there for over a week, her husband had not reached out to check on her.

She said:

“This is the same man that knows that I’m carrying his child. He has not called me.”

The woman said she had started questioning whether her husband married her because he truly loved her or because he wanted children.

She added that she was considering ending the marriage and asked social media users for advice on whether she should give him more time or move on.

“And I’m here asking myself, how did I even make this mistake? Like, how do I make this mistake? Why I’m seeing this now. Like the thing that has been blocking my eye from seeing him for who he is or who he was. Rather, it has, it has gone off my eyes. I’m thinking of divorce.

I even suggested to him that we should go our separate ways for now so that I can rethink everything. And he just said, okay, like there’s no effort in this month to make things work. I’m beginning to think that maybe this man married me because he wanted children.

Maybe because he didn’t necessarily love me. (And on top of that, the thing that I did for him, he didn’t give me the feats to do it for me. This is July and I’m considering a divorce.Now that the pregnancy is still early, I’m thinking that maybe I should terminate it, just divorce him, give him back his bride price and forge ahead with my life. Because I don’t see myself spending my lifetime with a partner that is this selfish. (But what do you guys think? Should I give him the benefit of the doubt? Maybe he’s going to eventually come around or maybe I should just do what I’m thinking because life, I know they say life is short, but life is kind of long to spend it with a selfish partner.
I did the same thing for him, but time to reciprocate it, he said, I’m being too fast. So I need your advice.Genuinely, ladies, what do you think I should do? Should I just divorce him and move ahead with my life?…”
