A lady has sparked conversations online after sharing how she narrowly missed cashing out a ₦17 million betting win after following a friend’s advice to keep the ticket running in hopes of winning an even bigger prize.

Her story, which has gone viral on social media, resonated with many users who described it as a painful lesson about greed, risk-taking and knowing when to walk away from a win.

According to the lady, the incident happened in 2015 when a male friend persuaded her to stake just ₦150 on a betting slip.

The ticket eventually accumulated winnings worth ₦17 million, prompting her to suggest withdrawing the money immediately.

Lady recalls losing ₦17 million betting opportunity

The lady said, “Life didn’t end when in 2015, a friend (guy) convinced me to play a bet with ₦150, we jokingly did and won ₦17,000,000. I told him to withdraw, he assured me to wait for the last game to win ₦25,000,000. Few minutes later, the whole game cut. I went home and couldn’t tell anyone about it. That was my first and last bet.”

Although she did not reveal the betting platform involved or provide further details about the ticket, her experience quickly attracted widespread attention across social media.
