“I can’t take it anymore”

A 21-year-old young Nigerian lady, Stella Okeme, has cried out for help, alleging that she has been suffering abuse and mistreatment in her marriage.

In a video shared online, the young mother claimed that her husband, Chinedi Bemese, changed after their traditional marriage and began treating her differently from when they were dating.

Lady says husband changed after marriage

Stella revealed that she got married traditionally to her husband last year, adding that he treated her well before they got married.

She, however, alleged that things changed after the marriage, claiming that he started treating her poorly and making her feel worthless.

She said:

“Before we got married, he treated me nicely, he treated me really very nice when we were dating. So after he married me, all of a sudden he changed.

“He treated me bad, treated me like trash, treated me like I was worth nothing.”

The 21-year-old said the alleged treatment affected her confidence and made her struggle with low self-esteem.

Lady alleges physical abuse

Stella further alleged that her husband had physically assaulted her, claiming that the situation had become unbearable.

She said she reached a point where she decided to speak out after allegedly enduring the situation for a long time.

“I was just beating me. I was like, I can’t take it anymore, this is getting too much. I have to speak up, I have to say something, I have to stand for myself.”

She also claimed that her husband often ignored her when she was upset or crying.

“This man would see me crying, like he sees me crying, he wouldn’t even ask me what was the problem, why are you crying.”

Young mother seeks help

The woman explained that she had remained in the marriage partly because she had nowhere else to go.

She appealed to the public for assistance, asking for a safe place where she and her daughter could stay.

“I don’t have anywhere to stay, I don’t have anywhere to go, I don’t have anybody to call, I don’t have where to stay.

“Guys, please, I need help. I need a place to stay.”

Stella revealed that she has one daughter and was pregnant when she got married traditionally.

Lady speaks on age difference

The young lady also claimed that her husband is significantly older than her, saying the age difference contributed to the challenges she experienced in the marriage.

She alleged:

“He will bully me, he will intimidate me because he is 20 years older than me. He is 46 years old, I am 21 years old.”
