Forged State House Letter Used To Register PFIPC, Says Accountant-General

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, has alleged that a forged letter purportedly issued from the State House was used to obtain official government recognition for the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Speaking during a review of major national headlines, Ogunjimi disclosed that the fake document was instrumental in the registration process of the council, a development that is now under investigation by the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu reportedly declined to meet an envoy sent by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for discussions on the recent xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South Africa.

In another development, the Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, disclosed that President Tinubu is expected to announce a salary increase for members of the Armed Forces as part of efforts to improve their welfare.

Elsewhere, concerns over the credibility of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election have intensified following reports of escalating political violence and the theft of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), according to The Guardian.

The Punch reports that members of the House of Representatives are mounting pressure to summon the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to appear before lawmakers over the ongoing investigation into the PFIPC.

Similarly, The Nation reports that the House committee probing the PFIPC has allegedly uncovered 29 documents believed to have been forged by officials linked to the council.

The developments continue to dominate national discourse as lawmakers intensify investigations into the controversial agency and other governance-related issues.
