Ebonyi Government Project Challenge, Ebony Group…
A group known as Anyi Ga Emeya Movement, has challenged the Ebonyi State government to show Ebonyians and Nigerians any project commissioned under the current administration since 2023.
Key Highlight:
- Group challenges Ebonyi government: The Anyi Ga Emeya Movement has asked the Ebonyi State Government to identify and present projects it has commissioned since taking office in 2023.
- Response to commissioner: The group’s statement followed comments by Information Commissioner Ikeuwa Omebeh, who defended the administration against claims of poor performance.
- Call for accountability: Spokesperson Moses Idika urged the government to focus on verifiable achievements rather than political sentiments ahead of future elections.
- Reference to Ebonyi’s history: The group stressed that Ebonyi was created through the merger of the Afikpo and Abakaliki blocs and said the state deserves good governance and sustainable development.
- Support for democratic rights: The movement maintained that all Ebonyians should be free to express their political views without intimidation or suppression.
The group was reacting to a statement credited to the state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Ikeuwa Omebeh, in which he defended the state government against allegations of failing to deliver any tangible service to the people.
Moses Idika, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and spokesperson of the group, stated this on Wednesday in a statement.
According to the statement, Omebeh should acknowledge the fact that Ebonyi State was created on the two pillars of amalgamation of Afikpo bloc and Abakaliki bloc, from old Abia and Enugu States, respectively.
He said that the people of Ebonyi State desire good governance, progress, prosperity and a state that they can be proud of.

“The destiny of Ebonyi State is in the hands of all Ebonyians and everyone should be allowed to express their democratic rights, irrespective of the sentiments of people who wish that Ebonyi reverses to the years of the locust,” it added.
