Defence Minister Christopher Musa Dismisses Resignation Rumours, Threatens Legal Action

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has dismissed widespread reports claiming he plans to resign from office, describing the speculation as false and misleading.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, Musa said he had never discussed stepping down and expressed surprise over the reports.

The minister accused those behind the claims of attempting to undermine public confidence in the government’s security efforts, insisting that the country’s security situation is steadily improving.

According to him, the meeting with President Tinubu was a routine security briefing during which the President commended the military for its ongoing operations across the country.

Musa said the armed forces would continue working to strengthen national security and urged Nigerians to sustain their support for security agencies.

He stressed that defeating terrorism and banditry requires collective effort, noting that increased public cooperation has contributed to recent security gains and would continue to drive further progress.
