There was panic on Thursday in Aragba-Orogun community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, as pupils, students and members of staff deserted primary and secondary schools following fears of an attempted kidnapping by suspected bandits.

Sources in the community said the scare erupted after strange men, suspected to be kidnappers, reportedly invaded a primary school and allegedly attempted to abduct a pupil. The attempt, however, was said to have been unsuccessful.

A security source at the Orogun Police Division confirmed the incident, disclosing that the command immediately deployed its surveillance team to the affected school upon receiving the distress report.
