Villarreal decides against renewing Partey’s contract as Real Madrid signs Silva
Villarreal are not intending to renew midfielder Thomas Partey’s contract for another season, The Athletic reports.
This means that the Ghana international will be without a club from the end of this month.
Partey spent a year with Villarreal after leaving Arsenal last summer, making 32 appearances across all competitions for the club.
He is currently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Ghana, but was recently denied a visa to enter Canada because of an ongoing legal proceeding in the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, in another development, Real Madrid officially announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement to sign Bernardo Silva.
Silva left Manchester City at the end of last season and will now play under new manager Jose Mourinho at Madrid.
The Portuguese international has now become a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028.
