VeryDarkMan Reacts To Alleged EFCC Petition, Accuses APC Of Plotting To Silence Critics
Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reacted to an alleged petition submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) requesting an investigation into him and human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
VDM shared the alleged document on his Instagram page on June 20, 2026, claiming it was an attempt to intimidate him and suppress his criticism of government policies.
The petition, reportedly dated June 11, 2026, and allegedly signed by Blessing Agbomhere & Partners, called on the EFCC to carry out a forensic investigation into the financial activities of VDM and Adeyanju.
According to the document, the petitioners raised concerns over the funding of their advocacy campaigns and protest activities, requesting checks into their bank accounts, assets, and possible financial transactions.
Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan accused members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the petition, alleging that it was designed to silence voices speaking against the government.
The activist claimed the petition was authored by an APC-linked lawyer from Edo State, Blessing Agbomhere, and suggested that the move was connected to growing public support for protests demanding improved governance and accountability.
VDM wrote: “They want to stop us from speaking against this government that has failed to protect the lives of Nigerians. They claim our protest is sponsored because it is organised and has a large turnout.”

He maintained that the protests were driven by Nigerians’ concerns over governance and security challenges, insisting that they were not sponsored by any external group.
The activist also reaffirmed his commitment to speaking on issues affecting citizens, adding that calls for accountability should not be treated as wrongdoing.
Earlier, VDM met with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde over concerns surrounding the abduction of schoolchildren in the state.
During the meeting, he expressed willingness to support efforts aimed at improving security and assisting in the search for the missing students.
