Trump Warns Iran To Rein In Hezbollah Fighters In Lebanon or face further airstrike
United States President Donald Trump has warned Iran that it could face another round of military strikes, if it fails to rein in Hezbollah fighters operating in Lebanon.
Trump issued the warning on Sunday, in a post on his Truth Social platform as senior American and Iranian officials convened in Switzerland for peace talks aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.
The US president accused Tehran of continuing to support Hezbollah and demanded that the Iran-backed group immediately cease what he described as destabilising activities in Lebanon.
“Iran must immediately stop their highly paid proxies in Lebanon from causing trouble,” Trump wrote.
“If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder.”
His remarks come amid renewed fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, raising fears that the fragile peace deal recently reached between Washington and Tehran could unravel.
Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed dozens of people in eastern and southern Lebanon on Saturday, before the clashes subsided later in the day after Israeli forces were ordered to halt further military operations.
The ceasefire forms part of a broader memorandum of understanding signed earlier this week between the United States and Iran, which seeks to end hostilities across several conflict zones, including Lebanon.

Speaking at the opening of the Switzerland talks, US Vice President JD Vance expressed confidence that efforts to preserve the ceasefire were making progress.
According to Vance, recent diplomatic engagements have produced encouraging results, with all parties working towards restoring peace and stability in the region.
He also credited the Trump administration with helping to de-escalate tensions and prevent a broader regional conflict.
The latest developments have placed renewed international focus on the fragile peace process, as global leaders closely watch whether the ceasefire can hold and avert another major escalation in the Middle East.
