Tinubu orders security reinforcement at NIPSS Kuru after gunmen attack
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate reinforcement of security at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, following a recent attack by gunmen on the institution.
The directive was conveyed by Vice President Kashim Shettima while addressing participants of the Senior Executive Course 48 (Class of 2026) at the institute on Friday.
Shettima also conveyed the Federal Government’s condolences to the families of two soldiers and one policeman who were killed during the attack.
“On the President’s order, a comprehensive action plan and timeline for permanent reinforcement — covering surveillance, personnel, access control, and emergency systems — must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President within seventy-two hours,” Shettima said.
“Weekly progress reports will follow until full completion. No future attack must find us unprepared.”
Tinubu described NIPSS as a critical national asset and directed that its safety be treated as a national security priority.
He noted that the attack was designed to spread fear and disrupt the training of future leaders, but instead demonstrated the courage, discipline, and resilience of the participants, management, and security personnel.
“Your safety is non-negotiable. The President has directed the immediate reinforcement of security around NIPSS and all strategic institutions,” Shettima said.
“The sacrifice of those three brave men will not be in vain. Their children will be our children. Their welfare will be our responsibility.”
The Vice President assured that the government remains committed to protecting national institutions and ensuring that such incidents are not repeated.
