Oyo Residents Celebrates Release Of Kidnap Victims After Sunday Igboho’s Ultimatum

Residents of Igboho, Oyo State, are celebrating the realease of a kidnapped family, comprising a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling who reportedly regained their freedom, following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Videos circulating online showed residents singing, dancing, and celebrating the reported release of the victims, with many describing the development as a relief for the community.

Their release came shortly after Igboho issued a warning over rising cases of kidnapping in the area.

In a viral video, he expressed anger over the alleged abduction and killing of residents, accusing criminal elements of terrorising communities.

Igboho reportedly demanded the immediate release of the woman and her children, giving a two-hour deadline and warning that further action would follow if the victims were not freed.

“I am giving you two hours to release the woman and the children you kidnapped overnight at their residence,” he said, adding that such criminal activities would no longer be tolerated in the area.

Following the reported freedom of the victims, large crowds gathered in Igboho town to celebrate, with residents welcoming the development.

The incident has renewed discussions around insecurity in Oyo communities, as residents continue to call for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
