NUC Approves 10 New Postgraduate Programmes for Nigeria Police Academy, Kano
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 10 new postgraduate programmes for the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s drive to expand advanced education in security, law, science, management and related disciplines.
The approval followed a comprehensive resource verification exercise conducted by an NUC team, which assessed the academy’s facilities, academic resources and faculty preparedness before granting accreditation for the new programmes.
According to a statement issued on Friday, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the academy, DSP Umar Isah, all the approved programmes will be offered on a full-time basis.
The newly approved postgraduate programmes are Master’s in crime management, prevention and control, postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in crime management, prevention and control, PGD in peace and conflict studies, PGD in police studies, and M.Sc. and Master of Business Administration and Entrepreneurship (MBA).
Others include PGD and M.Sc. in management studies, PGD and Master’s degree in law, PGD and M.Sc. in biochemistry, PGD and M.Sc. in financial economics, and PGD and M.Sc. in forensic DNA.

The academy said the development reflects its commitment to strengthening professional education and research while producing highly skilled personnel capable of addressing contemporary security and governance challenges.
It noted that although the institution has traditionally focused on the training and development of senior police officers, the new postgraduate programmes will be open to a wider audience, including personnel from other security and intelligence agencies as well as qualified members of the general public.
The academy added that details on admission requirements, application deadlines and registration procedures for the programmes will be announced in due course.
