INEC Uploads 96% Of Ekiti Gov Election Results On IReV
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 96 per cent of results from Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election on its Result Viewing Portal.
The portal, as of the time of filing this report, showed that results have been submitted from 2,362 out of 2,445 polling units where the election was conducted had been uploaded.
NEWSNGR reports that as of 11:03 pm, 96.61% of the Ekiti governorship election results have been uploaded to the INEC IReV portal.
Earlier in a post on its 𝕏 page, INEC said voting had officially ended in most polling units across Ekiti State following the close of polls at 2:30pm.
The commission said all 2,445 polling units opened for the governorship election, although some experienced minor delays.
“Voting has officially ended in most Polling Units across Ekiti State following the close of polls at 2:30 p.m,” INEC said.
“Earlier in the day, all 2,445 Polling Units were successfully opened for the Governorship Election: 2,257 PUs (92.31%) opened on schedule before 8:30 a.m.
“188 PUs (7.69%) experienced minor delays but commenced voting before 10:30 a.m. The process remained peaceful and orderly.”
According to the commission, 2,257 polling units, representing 92.31 per cent, opened on schedule before 8:30 am, while 188 polling units, representing 7.69 per cent, experienced delays but later commenced voting before 10:30 am.
Despite INEC’s assurance that the exercise was peaceful, there were reports of delayed voter accreditation in some parts of the state.
The delays were linked to glitches with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the biometric capture of some voters, especially elderly persons.
The technical hitches reportedly caused long queues in some polling units, leaving some elderly voters frustrated after repeated attempts to complete accreditation.
However, voting continued in affected areas after electoral officials addressed the challenges.
