I Went To My Friend With NTA & Said, ‘Can You Help Me Dub This Thing?’ He Said Madam Is Around—Ejiro
Veteran filmmaker Zeb Ejiro, widely regarded as the “Father of Nollywood,” has recalled how a chance encounter and an unexpected act of kindness helped change the course of his career after numerous companies rejected his first movie.
Ejiro shared the experience during an interview on The Legacy Series on Thursday, June 25, 2026, where he reflected on the struggles he faced in the early stages of his filmmaking journey.
According to the renowned filmmaker, despite producing what many people considered a quality movie, he encountered repeated rejection from companies he approached in search of support and distribution opportunities. The constant setbacks left him searching for alternative ways to get his work noticed.
Determined not to give up, Ejiro said he eventually turned to a friend who worked at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), hoping he could assist him in making a copy of the film so he could continue presenting it to prospective companies.
Recounting the incident, Ejiro said, “I went to one of my friends who was working with NTA then, the guy’s name is Ijeuwa. I said, ‘Ijeuwa, can you help me to dub?’” GET FULL STORY HERE.
