Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command, have recovered a Toyota Hilux stolen from Abuja and taken to Kaduna State
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the recovery was made possible “through a swift response by operatives of the Maitama Division”.
Josephine said the vehicle was traced to the Kubacha village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, from where it was recovered the same day.
She explained that on 20th June 2026, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Maitama Division, CSP Altine Daniel, received a distress call, reporting the theft of a white Toyota Hilux, 2014 model, with Registration Number BWR 712 CV, from Wuse II area of the FCT.
According to the PPRO, the DPO immediately led a team to the scene, where the complainant reported that the vehicle was parked at about 1:30 p.m. and was discovered missing about four minutes later, with an unknown person seen driving it away.
“Acting swiftly, all police formations and deployments along entry and exit routes in the FCT were alerted to conduct stop-and-search operations with a mandate to arrest any attempt to exit the FCT with the stolen vehicle.
“With the aid of digital tracking technology, the vehicle was traced and recovered at Kubacha, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State, at approximately 3:30 p.m. of the same day. One suspect was arrested in connection with the theft.
“The suspect and the recovered vehicle are in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances and identify possible accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, urges residents to remain security conscious and take proactive steps to protect their vehicles and valuables”, the statement added.
