Diri Inaugurates NSCDC Projects In Yenagoa, Reaffirms Support For Security Agencies

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the state as part of efforts to strengthen peace, stability, and the protection of lives and property. The governor made the assurance while he inaugurated NSCDC projects at the Bayelsa State Command Headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Yenagoa.

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe, Governor Diri said his administration would continue to prioritise investments in the security sector and sustain collaboration with federal security agencies operating in the state.

He commended the leadership, officers, and men of the NSCDC for their dedication to duty and contributions to the protection of critical national assets and public infrastructure across Bayelsa State.

According to the governor, the newly commissioned projects demonstrate the command’s commitment to institutional growth, personnel welfare, operational readiness, and improved service delivery.
“It is my pleasure to be here at the Civil Defence Headquarters in Yenagoa to identify with the Command on this important occasion.
“I commend the Commandant and officers of the NSCDC Bayelsa State Command for their dedication to duty and continued contribution to the security and protection of lives, critical assets, and public infrastructure in our state.

“On behalf of the Bayelsa State Government, I assure you of our continued support and partnership in strengthening security and promoting peace across the state,” Diri stated.
Earlier, the Bayelsa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Matthew Palmer, described the projects as part of the vision of the Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Abubakar Audi, and the reforms championed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Palmer explained that the facilities were designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve personnel welfare, and boost morale among officers and men of the command.
According to him, the commissioned projects include a newly constructed Quarter Guard, a Photo Stand, the activation of a Sick Bay, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Command Officers’ Mess.

“The Quarter Guard stands as the face of our discipline and readiness. The Photo Stand will preserve our history and pride. The Sick Bay affirms our commitment to the health and welfare of our officers and men.

He noted that the projects became possible through the support of stakeholders and the commitment of the command to operational excellence.

In separate goodwill messages, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Daniel Iyamah, representatives of the Nigerian Air Force, and Assistant Commandant General Ben Dikuro lauded the Bayelsa NSCDC Command for executing projects that would improve service delivery and staff welfare.

The event featured the official commissioning of the Quarter Guard, Photo Stand, activation of the Sick Bay, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Officers’ Mess.
