The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved over N36.8 billion in budgetary support and infrastructure projects, including a pedestrian bridge in Yola and the renovation of the state’s Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna, as part of efforts to improve public service delivery and accelerate development across the state.

The approvals were made during the ninth Executive Council meeting of 2026, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola.

Briefing journalists after the meeting on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Iliya James, said the council approved the remodelling and renovation of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna at a cost of over N154 million.

He also announced the approval of an amendment to the 2026 revised budget estimates, providing additional funding from the state’s contingency reserve for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The budget adjustment is valued at more than N36 billion.

According to the commissioner, Governor Fintiri also directed the Commissioner for Special Duties to supervise the Ministry of Livestock, while approving the transfer of the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Works, restoring the Ministry of Works and Energy Development.

He added that the governor instructed all ministries to submit reports on ongoing projects through the Office of the Chief of Staff before next week to strengthen project monitoring and ensure timely implementation.

The council also approved a contract worth over N742 million for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Galadima Aminu Way, popularly known as Bank Road, in Yola.

Speaking on the project, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Engineer Suleiman Muhammad, said the bridge is expected to be completed within three months.

He noted that the project is aimed at improving pedestrian safety, reducing road accidents, and enhancing security along one of Yola’s busiest roads.

The approvals reflect the Adamawa State Government’s continued commitment to expanding infrastructure, strengthening governance, and improving the welfare and quality of life of residents.
