Terrorists Abduct Travelers Along Gusau–Dansadau Highways; Vehicles Burned, Communities Fleeing

SECURITY ALERT: Zamfara State, Nigeria | October 2026
Armed groups have intensified attacks along the Gusau–Dansadau road and the connecting Dansadau–Magami highway in Zamfara State, reportedly burning vehicles, abducting commuters, and threatening further destruction. Local sources and circulating videos reviewed by TruthNigeria indicate that nearly 30 vehicles — including passenger cars, commercial tankers, and a tomato‑laden trailer — have been burned or vandalized within one week.
Attackers have reportedly ambushed travelers, including those moving under military escort, killing or wounding several commuters and abducting others into nearby forests. The escalating violence has forced residents and students to flee Dansadau and surrounding communities.
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade have reportedly launched clearance operations around Jengeme, Magami, and other affected areas to intercept the attackers and recover abandoned vehicles.
SECURITY ADVISORY & SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS
Motorists and residents should treat the Gusau–Dansadau and Dansadau–Magami corridors as high‑risk until authorities confirm improved conditions.
Travel Guidance
- Avoid the affected routes where possible.
- Postpone non‑essential journeys until security agencies provide updated assessments.
- Verify route safety with military or police authorities before departure.
- Do not attempt to cross active attack sites or confront armed groups.
- Do not approach abandoned or burned vehicles; they may be booby‑trapped or under surveillance.
Community Safety
- Move away from immediate danger and identify safe shelter locations.
- Report credible threats or suspicious movements through verified security channels.
- Students and residents in high‑risk communities should consider temporary relocation until clearance operations stabilize the area.
TruthNigeria urges transport operators, commercial drivers, and residents to prioritize personal safety while authorities intensify surveillance, route clearance, and intelligence‑led operations.
