Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, on Sunday, met with chief imams of Jummu’at mosques in Damaturu and called on them to intensify prayers for peace in Yobe State and Nigeria.
Governor Buni urged the Imams to use their Friday sermons to preach love, peace and tolerance.
He reminded them of the sad experience the state passed through in the past, stressing that Yobe cannot afford a repeat.
According to the governor, as the nation approaches the general elections, it has become imperative for religious leaders to preach peace and pray for a hitch-free electioneering process.
