Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has launched a free medical outreach aimed at providing healthcare services to thousands of residents across the district.

The programme, organised as part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF), is scheduled to hold from October 9 to 24, 2026.

More than 15,000 indigent residents are expected to benefit from the exercise, which will provide free medical consultations, medicines, eye care, dental services, as well as major and minor surgical procedures.

Medical doctors from the United States-based Sharing Hope Medical Mission are expected to take part in the programme. The organisers said more than 50 doctors would participate in the outreach.

The surgeries to be offered include gynaecological and orthopaedic procedures, as well as plastic surgery for burn-related conditions.

The organisers explained that the initiative was designed to assist residents who may be unable to afford specialised medical treatment while also improving the skills and capacity of healthcare workers in the district.

As part of the professional development component, participating healthcare professionals are expected to receive internationally recognised training and certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Stop the Bleed and Advanced Paediatric Life Support.

The American medical team will also deliver specialised lectures on advanced surgical procedures to Nigerian healthcare professionals participating in the programme.

For better coordination and to ease access for residents, the medical outreach has been decentralised across the nine local government areas that make up Ogun East Senatorial District.

The exercise will begin on October 9 in Ijebu North Local Government Area at Kabiesi Solaja Hall, 4 Four Junction, Atikori, Ijebu-Igbo, as well as at Bojowa Street, opposite Wema Bank, Ago-Iwoye.

The initiative is expected to provide free access to quality healthcare for thousands of residents, particularly low-income and indigent people, while promoting knowledge transfer and stronger healthcare delivery through international collaboration.
