EFCC reveals plans for Maina’s son following DSS arrest

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed the arrest of Faisal Maina, son of former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina.
According to PREMIUM TIMES, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this on Saturday morning.
Oyewale stated that a court order would be required to transfer Faisal to a correctional centre to serve his prison sentence.
“Confirmed. The necessary court order will be obtained to take him to the Correctional Centre for him to serve his sentence,” the EFCC spokesperson said in response to enquiries.
Recall that Faisal, who had been on the run since 2020, was tracked by DSS operatives in Karsana, Abuja, where he was picked up.
It would be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had arraigned Faisal on three-count of money laundering and conspiracy.
He later jumped bail and fled the country, but the court continued his trial in absentia and sentenced him to 14 years in prison in 2021.
