Army reaffirms commitment to campus security in Taraba

The Commander of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, has reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with academic institutions to promote a safe and conducive learning environment in Taraba state.
Akaliro gave the assurance on Friday during separate visits to Kwararafa University and the Federal University Wukari, where he called for stronger partnerships between the military and the institutions.
He said the visits were aimed at strengthening existing relationships and fostering greater cooperation between the Brigade and the two universities, particularly in areas of security, peace and peaceful coexistence.
The commander explained that the relocation of the Brigade Headquarters from Jalingo to Wukari provided an opportunity to deepen engagement with key institutions and stakeholders in its new location.
In their separate remarks, the Vice-Chancellors of Kwararafa University and the Federal University Wukari commended the Nigerian Army for its contributions to maintaining peace and security in Taraba state and the country at large.
The vice-chancellors also pledged their institutions’ continued cooperation with the 6 Brigade in advancing security, peaceful coexistence and community development.
The visits, according to the vice-chancellors, underscored the importance of collaboration between security agencies and educational institutions in addressing security challenges and ensuring the safety of students, staff and surrounding communities.
