“We’ve never even met” – Lady cries out after man she rejected asks her for gift

A Nigerian lady has cried out on social media after a man she turned down for a relationship allegedly asked her to buy him Apple AirPods as a gift.

The lady, identified as @Nsemeke_ on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared her experience while explaining how the man allegedly went from asking to be friends to requesting an expensive gift from her.

‘I Wasn’t Interested in a Relationship’

The lady revealed that she had initially made it clear to the man that she was not interested in dating him.

According to her, the man suggested that they remain friends, which she accepted.

“I told you I wasn’t interested in a relationship.

“You said we could just be friends. I didn’t block you.

“You started calling, I had no problem with that,” she wrote.

She explained that she had no issue maintaining the friendship and even helped him when he later claimed that he had no data.

‘I Did’

The young woman said the man subsequently asked her to subscribe for him because he had no data, and she agreed to help.

“Then you said you had no data and asked me to subscribe for you. I did,” she stated.

A few days later, she reportedly congratulated him after he passed an examination.

However, she claimed that his response to her congratulatory message left her surprised.

‘What Should You Gift Me?’

The lady said the man asked her what she intended to give him as a reward for passing the examination.

“Few days later you passed an exam, I congratulated you like a good friend. Next message? You’re telling me what to gift you for smashing it,” she wrote.

She initially thought he was joking but said he later called to remind her about the gift.

“I thought you were joking. You called to remind me. I played along and you foolishly said Apple AirPods,” she stated.

‘I’m Not Your Girlfriend’

The lady expressed disbelief at the request, pointing out that they were neither dating nor had they met physically.

She also noted that she had never asked him for anything despite their interactions.

“It’s not your birthday. I’m not your girlfriend, we’ve never seen each other and I have never asked you for anything,” she wrote.

The man allegedly went further by suggesting that the AirPods should be purchased from outside the country.

“You even had the nerve to say we should buy it outside the country,” she added.
