Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 12 civilians and foiled separate abduction attempts by terrorists in Zamfara State.

The operations were conducted on 7 September by troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, in Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas of the state.

In the first operation, troops responded to a distress call over the infiltration of terrorists into a residence at Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda.

The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon six abducted civilians and flee across a nearby river.

The rescued victims were evacuated and subsequently reunited with their families.

In a separate operation along the Main Supply Route in Tsafe LGA, troops monitoring terrorist activities observed an attempt to intercept a Sharon vehicle at Kwanoni village.

The troops swiftly moved to the location and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon the operation and retreat into the adjoining bush.

Six civilians were subsequently rescued.

The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property while disrupting terrorist activities across its area of operations.

It urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with relevant information to support ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist elements in the region.
