Senator Bello Mandiya Dies At 62 In Abuja

A former Senator representing Katsina South, Bello Mandiya, has died in Abuja at the age of 62.
Mandiya reportedly passed away on Monday, with the Katsina State government confirming his death and announcing that his burial would take place in Abuja on Tuesday.
The cause of death has not been disclosed as of the time the announcement was made.
Governor Dikko Radda, in a condolence message, described the former lawmaker’s death as a major loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.
Radda said he received the news with shock and sadness, noting that Mandiya devoted part of his life to public service.

The governor commended the late senator’s contributions to the people of Katsina South and expressed condolences to his family, former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, political associates and former colleagues at the National Assembly.
He also prayed for the repose of Mandiya’s soul and for strength for his family and other associates mourning his death.
Before entering the Senate, Mandiya served as chief of staff to former Governor Masari.
He later contested for the Katsina South Senate seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was elected in 2019, until the end of his tenure in 2023.
His death has prompted condolences from political circles in Katsina State and beyond.
