Russia, Ukraine Agree To Temporary Ceasefire Following US

Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a temporary suspension of aerial attacks on their respective capitals, Moscow and Kyiv, as US officials intensify diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a three-day halt to strikes on Kyiv beginning at midnight on Saturday, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a reciprocal pause on attacks against Moscow.
The development coincides with the arrival of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow on Saturday for talks with Russian officials. The two are expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday to meet with Zelenskyy.
The temporary truce follows a recent escalation in aerial attacks, with Russia carrying out repeated drone strikes on Kyiv and Ukraine targeting locations inside Russian territory.
A Russian drone reportedly struck the headquarters of Ukraine’s Security Service in central Kyiv on Friday, injuring at least 12 people, according to Ukrainian officials.
The suspension is aimed at creating safer conditions for the ongoing US diplomatic mission and does not amount to a wider ceasefire.
Fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces is expected to continue on other fronts while the temporary arrangement remains in place.
Efforts to secure a broader peace agreement have stalled for months, with Moscow demanding territorial concessions from Kyiv and an end to Ukraine’s ambitions to join NATO.
Ukraine has rejected those conditions.
US President Donald Trump has renewed diplomatic efforts to find a path towards ending the conflict, which has lasted more than four years.
The limited suspension marks a rare sign of military de-escalation between the two sides, although major disagreements over territory, security and Ukraine’s future alignment remain unresolved.
