Police Arrest Suspected Vehicle Theft Kingpin, Recover Stolen Car In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected vehicle theft kingpin, identified as 28-year-old Mosuru Issa, and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Issa was arrested by operatives of the Mowe Police Division during a stop-and-search operation along the Mowe axis on Friday, September 11, 2026.

According to a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Saturday, September 12, the operatives flagged down a wine-coloured Toyota Camry with three occupants at about 7:30am for a security check.

The police said the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled in different directions after sighting the officers, raising suspicion.

The operatives subsequently pursued them and arrested Issa, of Osungboye Street, Agege, Lagos State, while the vehicle was secured and recovered.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was allegedly stolen on 7 September 2026 from where it was parked in Ojoo, Lagos State,” the statement said.

The Command said efforts were ongoing to locate the vehicle’s owner and apprehend the two fleeing occupants.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and swift response.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to “proactive policing and sustained operations” aimed at protecting lives and property and disrupting vehicle theft, highway crime and other criminal activities across the state.

The Command also advised vehicle owners to adopt basic security measures, including the use of tyre locks, steering locks and other anti-theft devices, particularly when parking in public or unsecured locations.
