Oyo Police Presents ₦37.89m Insurance Cheques To Families Of 48 Fallen Officers

The Oyo State Police Command has presented insurance cheques totalling ₦37.89 million to the families of 48 police officers who died in the line of duty.

The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Abimbola, at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.

The command said the payment was in recognition of the sacrifices made by the deceased officers and was intended to provide financial relief to their families.

Speaking at the presentation, Abimbola said no financial compensation could replace the lives lost, but the intervention would help cushion the impact of the deaths on the affected families.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and productively, particularly for the welfare and education of their families.

The Commissioner also assured the beneficiaries that the death of their loved ones had not severed their relationship with the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to continue to see themselves as part of the larger police family.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to the welfare of serving and retired personnel, deceased officers and their families.

The command said the presentation is part of broader welfare initiatives by the Nigeria Police Force to support officers and their families.
