Ogun police deploy protection squad as schools resume

As schools in Ogun State prepare to resume academic activities on Monday, the State Police Command has deployed its School Protection Squad across the state.
The deployment is aimed at boosting police visibility around schools, protecting pupils, teachers and infrastructure, and ensuring swift response to security threats.
Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed this during a meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Safe School Club, led by its State Chairman, Abdullahi Lawal, at the Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Monday.
According to the police boss, the move is in line with the proactive and community-oriented policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Ojajuni said the squad has been charged to remain vigilant, engage closely with school communities and respond promptly to credible security information.
He urged school proprietors, administrators, teachers, parents and students to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements around schools.
“See something, say something. Do not ignore suspicious persons, vehicles or activities around any school. Early information can prevent an incident,” the CP stated.
He urged residents to report any school-related emergency through its Gateway Shield Emergency Line and assured that the squad, in partnership with the PCRC and other stakeholders, is fully prepared to protect schools and prevent threats across the state.
