The incident was disclosed by Obi’s media aide, Esther Umoh, who shared videos on X showing what appears to be a group of people blocking the route around Boko Road, near the Air Force Base in Makurdi.

According to Umoh, the obstruction occurred shortly after Obi and members of his entourage arrived in Benue State.

She alleged that the individuals had been sponsored to prevent the former Anambra State governor from gaining access into the state.

“We have just arrived in Benue State, where alleged sponsored thugs have blocked Boko Road by the Air Force Base, attempting to prevent Peter Obi from gaining access into the state,” she wrote.

In another video posted by the aide, some individuals could be seen running behind vehicles travelling with the convoy.

Umoh alleged that the individuals were attempting to attack the entourage, although their identities and the circumstances surrounding the incident had not been independently established.

The development reportedly caused tension along the route as Obi’s entourage attempted to navigate the area.

However, details surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Neither the Benue State government nor the police have publicly confirmed the alleged attack or identified those responsible for blocking the road.
